Went to James’s classes and had great fun and learned so much. The spoken lessons were great; listening and interacting with people from different parts of Spain was really helpful in tuning your ears (you always have to concentrate to understand when people speak back to you).

I can honestly say, as an English speaker, that the course is the best investment in learning Spanish. I have tried the free courses, I also tried “”””paid for lessons”””” in blocks of 8 (but gave up when the teacher asked me what I wanted to learn !?!?). I have made a lot of progress in the 18 months since I joined JSS

I have found this course the best I have tried since attempting to learn Spanish. I am now on my third and last section and have really enjoyed it. I have discovered that it is impossible to learn without the basic verbs and grammar – you are only fooling yourself if you think you can. The cultural tips are brilliant during class. The videos are so good and help so much with pronunciation. I have pushed myself to speak out in class, which is something I have always avoided in the past. To sum up, I would like to thank James for giving me the confidence to read and speak Spanish in the correct way. The only negative is his choice of famous actor Arnold and the memorabilia. James gives us lots to practise with – sentences and stories which, to my surprise, mostly stuck with me as my memory is not what it used to be. I remember last year sitting beside a Spanish family and I could understand most of what they were saying. I surprise myself when making appointments and talking with receptionists, and I find that once I ask Spanish speakers to talk slowly they are happy to do so and will help with words. James’s Spanish class has made me embrace my Spanish life here. I believe that to enjoy living here you need to be able to talk with the locals, and they appreciate it so much when you make the effort. If there is something I don’t know or am struggling with, James is only too happy to help. He explains things very well and in simple terms. It has been lovely to learn alongside my classmates, and my family are very proud of how far I have come.
